Stuck in Guyana

I will remember two things about Guyana…the people and the mosquitoes.  I had the privilage to survey a couple of the Amerindian villages in preparation for upcoming humanitarian operations.  Guyana has one of the largest unspoiled rainforests in South America and the villages were “en da bush” as they say in Guyana.  We were unable to get helo support so I had to take boat rides a couple of hours up river to gain access.  The Amerindians are descendants of the original inhabitants of Guyana.  They don’t have much in the western sense but are full of life and seem to be content with what they have.  While the people have been very accommodating the mosquitoes have been extra special!  I’m currently just hanging out in the capital Georgetown  since I can’t get a flight out until next week…got to find somewhere to watch the UFC!
